Cape Town in the Future
In late February 2012, the Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Honorable Patricia de Lille, announced a consultative, research-based process at a Council meeting to engage citizens and stakeholders on the long-term City Development Strategy (CDS) for Cape Town.
In Twitter, the account @capetown2040 was launched to capture ideas and comments to enhance public consultation, which will be mainly in the form of meetings on various topics over a period of three months - facilitated by FreedThinkers, experts in guiding strategic processes. The initiative is welcomed by @CapeTown and supported in favor of public participation by the @capetown account holder without any affiliation to government.
