Cape Town in the Future
In late February 2012, the Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Honorable Patricia de Lille, announced a consultative, research-based process at a Council meeting to engage citizens and stakeholders on the long-term City Development Strategy (CDS) for Cape Town.
In Twitter, the account @capetown2040 was launched to capture ideas and comments to enhance public consultation, which will be mainly in the form of meetings on various topics over a period of three months - facilitated by FreedThinkers, experts in guiding strategic processes. The initiative is welcomed by @CapeTown and supported in favor of public participation by the @capetown account holder without any affiliation to government.
Below, find some IDEAS and COMMENTS collected via Twitter that could inform the City Development Strategy (not all are represented here, but all those tagged #capetown2040 have been documented).
The tweets are updated regularly and sorted according to the five objectives of the draft strategy, and it is best to use both tags in Twitter if you add your own ideas:
~ a #capetown2040 that is #liveable ~
~ a better #connected #capetown2040 ~
~ our #capetown2040 with #lowcarbon ~
~ #inclgrowth of the #capetown2040 economy ~
